Bondage and Restraint Play Guide
If you ever played cops and robbers as a kid, and always wanted to be the robber, so you could be captured and detained, you are probably into bondage.
There are a wide variety of reasons people enjoy bondage play. Some people enjoy having their spouse completely at their mercy, and getting to be the ones in charge, making all the decisions. Or maybe you are tired of making decisions, and bondage is a way for you to let go and surrender and let someone else completely focus on bringing you as much pleasure as possible for the night.
Or maybe you are a couple with mobility issues, and you’ve realized that some bondage tools allow you to regain positions and activities your bodies have recently been unable to do on their own!
Bondage can be an incredibly erotic and – ahem – bonding experience, when done safely between a married couple.
We always recommend beginners start with a set of cuffs, like these that come in the 6 piece Bed Post Bindings Kit by Ouch! The wide diameter of these cuffs ensure you will not inadvertently compress any nerves in your limbs. Your wrists and ankles have MANY nerves running through them, and using smaller diameter bindings, like fuzzy handcuffs or zip ties risk permanent nerve damage. It only takes 5 minutes of compressed nerves to lose function in your hands – and the wide surface area of these Velcro cuffs helps to prevent such damage. The Velcro means you can also release your spouse from these in a hurry, should the need arise.
The other great thing about this set by Ouch is it also comes with these straps that you can use to attach your spouse to your bed, so you get to take as much time as you want exploring every inch of their body.
When placing a partner in bondage, never leave them alone. You should be right with them in case anything should happen, and they would need immediately released from their bonds. Always be careful to position your spouse in such a way that their airway remains clear, and their breathing is not constricted in any way. Periodically check their limbs to ensure their blood flow is not compromised. You can check for color in their nail beds, and feel the temperature of their skin to make sure it is not cool to the touch. If it is, get them into a different position and ensure the blood gets moving again.
When first starting out with bondage, make sure their body is fully supported in all areas, as muscle fatigue and cramps will kill the mood quickly.
If you are interested in an alternative to cuffs, try out this bondage tape by Fetish Fantasy. This tape is unique in that it does not stick to hair, skin, or fabric, but will only stick to itself. Bondage tape makes an excellent addition to certain sexy role plays – are you ready for a grown up game of Cops & Robbers, where the robber overpowers the good guy and ties HIM up?
If you are using bondage tape, always keep a pair of safety shears, like these by Temptasia, on hand, to quickly release your spouse should the need arise. If the tape becomes tangled in itself, you want to ensure you can quickly get it off!
And lastly, make sure to let your friends know you can’t go out this weekend – you’re all tied up!
And remember to have fun!
